Your picture came up, unbidden, on my phone last night, and I was suddenly that pet, whining and yowling, whose owner discards them along the side of the road, without word or warning. Then a tongue, flicking along the fading edges of the winding silver scar you left, and I remembered I was never more than temporarily satisfied with your gruff half-hearted head pat. I was never much of a pet. An eruption of a laugh as he pulled me on top of him, and we set to smoothing out the concentrated wrinkle of my forehead.

ah, the blatant fakery of narcissistic victimology, where one goes months being intentionally cruel, and then runs around drumming up sympathy from those who know nothing of it. some people are better off left behind, and the dust shaken off. The only shame is that my blind spot is so persistent, and that it's not more in my nature to keep myself from looking back.

The banks must have given till end-of-month to enforce the foreclosures. Moving trucks have been up and down the road since dawn, and show no sign of stopping, though the sun has long since set. I went for a walk with Lou; it's cold enough that both of us can see our breath. He seems more puzzled by it than I am.

Morning Moon

I really like this one.

The Tragically Hip - Fly

I'm kind of a sucker for new and unfamiliar things, except in music. This album came out maybe two years ago, and it's only been in the last month or so that I've liked anything on it. I love this song.

I think the best thing about having a guide dog is that if you asked very nicely, you could probably get her to carry your keys in a pouch around her neck. That way, it'd be her fault when they go missing yet again.

April 5-6

ooh squeeees!

Leonard Cohen, Sunday 5 April at the Dodge, and then on the 6th, I'm taking the day off for Steven Pinker, Richard Dawkins, a whole bunch of other awesome scientists, mothafucking Christopher Hitchens, and wait for it...Hawking! Hawking, gawddamnit!

First time I've ever been glad to live here. Anyone who wants to come is welcome, as long as you let me know fairly soon, on account of I will not take a chance that tickets to either will be gone.

Get Back Again - The Tragically Hip

The Misty Moon, for those of you not fortunate enough to be from Halifax, was a dirty little dive, which has, I believe, since been closed down. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The Atheist Experience is a really good show, if you're into that type of thing, which I most definitely am.
